Our purpose is to advance the Profession of SAR coordination, ensuring the maximum effectiveness and efficiency in the global life-saving mission. This Purpose is worldwide in all domains (maritime, aeronautical, land).

IASARC was founded by a diverse group of passionate experts from nearly a dozen nations who envisioned a future where every life in distress that can be saved is saved.

Collaborate with governments and nongovernmental organizations on matters of law, regulation, policies, and plans which improve the world’s lifesaving mission.

Advance the science of Search Theory, human survivability modelling, oceanography, meteorology, and other related sciences which underlie all SAR operations.

Collaborate with industry, academia, and other research organizations to identify and field improved SAR coordination capabilities.

Advocate for SAR survivors, professionals, and organizations through expert advice and consultation.

We believe in the philosophy of continuous improvement, and will engage in a myriad of activities which advance the world’s lifesaving mission.
Our Timeline

Establish IASARC as an international nonprofit. Recruit leading experts in SAR and the sciences that support the lifesaving mission.

Establish an international working group to develop a world class certification process. Begin work on individual SAR certification programs.

First individual certification programs are piloted among IASARC strategic partners around the world.

All six certifications are made publicly available.
